Daniel Loeb Gets His Dream House
Notoriously prickly hedge-fund manager Daniel Loeb has finally closed on his $45 million penthouse at 15 Central Park West. The five-bedroom, five-bathroom (plus two half-bathrooms!) apartment on the 39th floor is 10,674 square feet, and that's not including the 709-foot wraparound terrace. It also comes with access to a 75-foot lap pool, around which Loeb can hobnob with neighbors Sting, Denzel Washington, and Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein; a screening room; English-oak-paneled library; formal dining room (with a private in-house chef); climate-controlled wine rooms (keep your Gewürztraminer chilled!); and a general sense of extreme self-satisfaction, especially if you pay for it in cash, as Loeb did. One issue, though: Loeb's views of the park will be obstructed by views of Sandy Weill's $42.4 million apartment. Well, even the rich sometimes suffer, a little. 15 CPW ALERT! Loeb's $45 M. PETA Causes a Ruckus in the House of Donna Karan
A PETA protester accosted designer Donna Karan inside her Central Park West apartment after an assistant mistakenly let her in. Kyle MacLachlan and his wife are expecting a child. Tom Cruise, Jennifer Lopez, Demi Moore, and a host of other stars all turned out for Madonna's "Raising Malawi" (Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon did not, however, after learning that the event was sponsored by Gucci). Rachel Zoe came to Fashion Week with eight suitcases, two of which were for accessories. R.E.M. played a series of impromptu shows on the Lower East Side earlier this week.

Real-Estate Porn: Behold a Beresford Penthouse
Been shopping for a place on Central Park West? Curbed noticed the listing today for a three-bedroom park-facing duplex penthouse in the famous Beresford, just north of the Museum of Natural History and home to celebrities from Jerry Seinfeld to John MacEnroe. It hasn't been renovated in a while, but it's also only been lightly used: The current owner is apparently an Indian media mogul who only stays there two weeks a year. (It seems it's good to be an Indian media mogul.) The price tag: a mere $28 million. Hey, maybe it can be your uptown pied-à-terre. (Curbed has floorplans, too.)
