Not Every Morningside Heights Residence Comes With an RA

Morningside Heights — West 100th to West 122nd Streets, west of Morningside Avenue — might as well be Columbia-land (Barnardsville?), considering the university’s massive presence here. But tucked among the neighborhood’s Columbia-affiliated buildings — many of them used to house students — are co-ops and condos for the rest of us. The stock is mostly prewar, with the graciously proportioned rooms and flowing layouts that have attracted apartment-hunters to the area for years, but one glitzy new development, 110+Broadway, just joined the scene. It’s not as cheap to buy here as it was back in the nabe’s sleepy, under-the-radar days, but compared to the rest of the Upper West Side, Morningside Heights will seem quite reasonable. You may even find some bargains in the rough.
