Boldfaced Names Flock South for Art Basel Winter

Art Basel has sucked New York’s boldfaced types down to Miami’s $4.99 early-bird dinner buffets. We are left with a surfeit of socialites, a David Mamet play without David Mamet, and Geraldo.

Ugg Australia grand opening. 79 Mercer St., nr. Broome St., 7 p.m. Guests scheduled to include Molly Sims, Jacinda Barrett, and Dr. Lisa Airan, who’s the only socialite in the Socialite Rank Top 20 with a medical degree. She’s an emergency-room trauma surgeon in the South Bronx. Just kidding, she’s a dermatologist.

The Best Investment Advice I Ever Received book party. Home, 532 W. 27th St., nr. Tenth Ave., 8 p.m. Author Liz Claman will be there, along with Olympic skaters Silvia Fontana and John Zimmerman. And the whole shebang is hosted by Geraldo. If you can’t crash the party, you can at least enjoy this clip of Geraldo interviewing fecal punk-rock legend GG Allin.
Opening night of The Voysey Inheritance. Atlantic Theater Company, 336 W. 20th St., nr. Eighth Ave., 8 p.m. David Mamet adapted the play, but he won’t be there. Who will? Actor Fritz Weaver, probably the only Tony Award winner to have appeared on both The X-Files and The Love Boat.

Or, check out all our Agenda listings for tonight, selected by New York’s culture editors.
