• Venus premiere. Celeste Bartos Theater, MoMA, 4 W. 54th St., nr. Sixth Ave., 6:30 p.m. Expected attendees include Natasha Richardson, Corinne Bailey Rae, Dan Hedaya, Arianna Huffington, and Damian Loeb. Dan Hedaya isn’t in Venus. But he was in Swimfan. Once again, point Hedaya.
• Gucci Winter Gala. Neue Galerie, 1048 Fifth Ave., nr. 86th St., 9:30 p.m. Gwyneth Paltrow is expected. So are Renee Rockefeller and Lauren Dupont. It’s a question that puzzles many scholars: Had the communists known that a few generations down the line Duponts and Rockefellers would be spending their time at Gucci parties instead of proletariat-exploiting factories, might the Cold War have been avoided?
• BAM Next Wave Gala. BAM, 30 Lafayette Ave., nr. Flatbush, Fort Greene, Brooklyn, 6 p.m. Scheduled gala-teers include Jessica Lange, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Christo, Jeanne-Claude, Jonathan Lethem, Cindy Sherman, Mark Seliger, Claire Danes, and Philip Glass. Either Lou Reed broke both legs, or he’s busy condescending to writers about his Berlin revival; there’s no way he’d miss an event involving Christo and Philip Glass under normal circumstances.
