Say it ain't so! The city's Board of Health has voted — unanimously, even — to ban delicious, dangerous trans fats from all New York City restaurants, according to a Crain's report. Starting July 1, 2007, it'll be verboten to fry food in any trans fats; restaurateurs get another year to find a replacement fat to use in baked goods. Gastronomes and notorious sloths that we are, we are saddened by this development. Our friends at Grub Street, naturally, are disconsolate.
