Bill O’Reilly and Arianna Huffington Continue Their Tempestuous, Exciting Relations

So, you might remember the other week in his column Bill O’Reilly got himself all aflutter, as he does, about some of the colorful language that occasionally appears in comments on the Huffington Post. Apparently a couple of days ago on his show he brought it up again and made an overblown analogy, as he does, comparing Arianna Huffington to a Nazi. “I don’t see any difference between Huffington and the Nazis,” he said. “They both want people to die.” If movies are anything to go by, they are both impeccably groomed, too, but that’s beside the point.

Anyway, you’d think he would have backed off said analogy when, last night, a Holocaust survivor confronted him, but no. Oh, no. “If you look back at what happened in Germany,” he said, according to Portfolio, “you cannot escape the similarities between what Hitler and his cutthroats did back then … and what the hate-filled blogs are doing now.” That’s our O’Reilly!

Huffington, for her part, apparently decided that the whole thing provided an excellent opportunity to plug her book. “If having a few ugly — and anonymously posted — comments appear on HuffPost, which were removed as soon as we become aware of them, caused O’Reilly to compare me to Nazis, I can only imagine what he’ll come up with when Right is Wrong (my new book) comes out,” she said in a statement to Portfolio. And that would be our Huffington. We can’t quite put our finger on why, but it’s almost like they belong together.
