Bloomberg’s Self-Congratulatory ‘State of the City’ Conference

Things Bloomberg congratulated himself on in today’s State of the City conference: A 28 percent decrease in crime (since he took office); “improvements in the public schools”; $7.7 billion in budget cuts (This is good because, “If we hadn’t taken those steps, instead of confronting a crisis today we’d be caught in a cataclysm”); “bouncing back” economically from September 11th; “Independent leadership based on facts and pragmatism — not politics and ideology. Innovative thinking that embraces new solutions to old problems — and an insistence on accountability, always.” And by always he means ALWAYS. [Bloomberg]
