One lesson from the vetting of President Obama’s nominees is that there’s a nearly limitless number of potential ways to screw up your taxes. Trade representative Ron Kirk is the fifth appointee to run into tax issues, and we haven’t had a repeat offense yet. Kirk will “pay $9,975 in back taxes for failing to report speaking fees as income and for incorrectly deducting season tickets to Dallas Mavericks basketball games.” [NYT]
