In the middle of a Japanese report that North Korea has thousands of tons of chemical weapons that could be fired with missiles to hit locations all over South Korea, now comes news that Kim Jong-il’s government may be planning to fire a long-range missile over Japan in the next few weeks, in the direction of Hawaii. (He’s angry that his nation was condemned by the U.S. and U.N. for recent nuclear tests.) Of course, they do not yet have the capability to actually reach U.S. soil, but this is unsettling news for countries in the region. [Reuters, NYDN]
