How Much Trouble Is David Paterson In?

Yesterday at a closed-door meeting upstate, state Democratic officials and union leaders gathered to discuss the health of the party and Governor Paterson’s low poll numbers. According to the Post, the group decided to give Paterson “an ultimatum: Shape up by October or we’re taking our support elsewhere.” But by the Daily News’ account, “[t]here was no talk … about pushing Paterson off the ticket or of not supporting him.” Well, somebody is wrong. But either way, it doesn’t really matter — deadline or not, an approval rating in the twenties can only take you so far. [NYP, NYDN]
