This Thursday at 6 p.m., former enemies Sergeant James "Jim Crow" Crowley and Professor Skip "I Live Here!" Gates will meet with President Obama at the White House for a beer and some classic hatchet-burying. Press secretary Robert Gibbs says the meeting has no "formal agenda," meaning they won't be eradicating our nation's history of racial tensions. "This is about having a beer and de-escalating," he told reporters. In what seems like further effort at downplaying the weightiness of the summit, the three will meet not in the serious confines of the Oval Office, but at the picnic table on the South Lawn. Who knows? Maybe after enough drinking, they'll even move over to the nearby swing set.
