Commuters Flip Out Over Lack of Envelopes

By

Yesterday was the last day that a monthly MetroCard bought before the June 28 fare hike could be used. Guess who didn't know about that deadline? A lot of people! And they were turned away from the turnstiles in droves on this hot, muggy morning. That was bad enough, but then the station agents ran out of envelopes with which straphangers could mail their cards to the MTA for a reimbursement. Which all sounds like a fairly unpleasant experience. But we're not sure it called for "banging the station agent booth window" and, yes, even crying. What's the big deal? Just head over to your local post — oh, wait, never mind. [NYP]
