Former governor Sarah Palin is giving back to the soldiers that fight to protect her right to scare old people about health-care reform. For a starting price of $25,000, one lucky eBay bidder and his or her guests can enjoy dinner with Palin and husband Todd, with the proceeds going to Ride 2 Recovery, a charity that benefits wounded soldiers. A noble cause, to be sure, but with a price tag that high, we doubt most of the working-class, salt-of-the-earth folk that Palin ostensibly champions will be able to afford it. Some will also be weeded out by her rigorous vetting process, while others will probably be turned off by her haughty restrictions and the possibility that their extravagantly expensive meal could end at any moment:
A background check for all attendees is mandatory. Failure to pass the background check will result in the winner forfeiting the experience and a refund given.
Winner may take personal photos and allowed to bring one item of reasonable size i.e. no larger than what can be carried by hand (t-shirts, books, magazines, etc.) The decision to sign the item will ultimately be up to Ms. Palin. Respect for Ms. Palin and her guest(s) is expected at all times. Inappropriate behavior will result in the conclusion of the experience with no refund.
Dinner shall last no more than four hours, but could be less, in the sole discretion of Sarah Palin.* Governor Palin reserves the right to refuse dinner with a winning bidder if, in her sole discretion, the winning bidder is not a suitable bidder based on her subjective standards of suitability, professionalism, background and other factors.
You read that right: After paying at least $25,000 to eat a meal with her, Palin won't even commit to giving you an autograph. We guess she has to gauge whether your behavior and professionalism merit such a courtesy first.
If you're looking for a less stressful experience, a number of other auctions have sprung up offering meals with people who are not Sarah Palin. Like this one by a Milwaukee woman, which, as of this moment, has received nineteen bids to Palin's zero:
Forget about having dinner with Sarah Palin for $25,000 rather pay to NOT have dinner with her. Come to wonderful Milwaukee, WI and have dinner with a single mom, her three kids and enjoy the real AMERICAN experience. How you get to Milwaukee is up to you. Home cooked, middle class meal served hot off of middle class plates from the dollar store. Show American where our priorities are and hope that this auction makes more money than "Dinner with the Palins". All money will go to a scholarship fund for regular folks trying to better themselves through education.
We bet she'll sign as many hand-held objects as you want, too.
