Vitter Still Cautious on Interracial-Marriage Issue

We wondered this morning when Senator David Vitter would end his bizarre silence over Louisiana justice of the peace Kenneth Bardwell’s refusal to marry an interracial couple. After all, Republican governor (and Kenneth Parcell look-alike) Bobby Jindal called for Bardwell’s firing last week. Well, Vitter decided to enter the fray tonight. Sort of. The call-girl-craving senator’s spokesman, Joel DiGrado, told the Plum Line that “Senator Vitter thinks that all judges should follow the law as written and not make it up as they go along.” That’s it. Because as we all know, the not-following-the-law part of Bardwell’s decision is what made it so abhorrent. [Plum Line]
