On Monday, on the floor of the House of Representatives, GOP Congressman John Shadegg of Arizona made what has to be the most tactless argument to date — and perhaps at all possible — against holding trials in New York for the 9/11 conspirators: “I saw the mayor of New York today said, ‘We’re tough, we can do it.’ Well, mayor, how are you going to feel when it’s your daughter that’s kidnapped at school by a terrorist?” Obviously, he has now apologized.
