New Jersey Senate Postpones Gay Marriage Vote

There will be no vote on gay marriage in the New Jersey State Senate tomorrow after all. The bill’s sponsors have postponed the vote indefinitely, although they only have a month before Chris Christie, who will veto if given the chance, takes over for Governor Corzine. The sponsors want extra time to make sure support for the bill has a chance to mature before the vote.

Meanwhile Bruce Springsteen broadcasted his support for the bill today on his website, echoing a statement by Corzine and urging “those who support equal treatment for our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters to let their voices be heard now.” The boss, however, still has absolutely no desire to get involved in state politics or perform at Christie’s inauguration.
