JFK to Get Worse Before It Gets Better

The biggest of JFK’s four runways is going to shut down this summer for structural renovation, as part of a continuing effort to reduce delays at the — let’s face it — increasingly traumatic travel hub. It’ll be closed for four months, from March to June, leading into the summer travel rush. Officials insist that this won’t cause delays beyond the normal rate (the current average flight delay is one hour), but nobody believes them. [NYT]
