New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg gave away $254 million of his estimated $17.5 billion fortune to philanthropic causes last year, earning him the #4 spot on the list of Americans who gave the most to charity in 2009, according to the Chronicle of Philanthropy. Bloomberg’s giving has increased steadily over the past few years, as he donated $205 million in 2007, and then $235 million in 2008. [NYP]
