TARP Watchdog: ‘It Is Hard to See How Any of the Fundamental Problems in the System Have Been Addressed’


Does that not make you nervous? Well then, the special inspector general for the Troubled Asset Relief Program and noted badass Neil Barofsky has another way of putting it in his quarterly report, which came out this weekend:

"Stated another way, even if TARP saved our financial system from driving off a cliff back in 2008, absent meaningful reform, we are still driving on the same winding mountain road, but this time in a faster car."

How about that? Are you scared now? Are you quaking with adrenaline and a sense of, "Well, that sucks, but what the hell am I supposed to do about it, I mean seriously?" No? Well then, Neil "I looked into the eyes of Colombian guerrilla killers who tried to knife me" Barofsky only has one weapon left in his arsenal with which to drive home the point of exactly how screwed we are.
