Four More ‘No’ Votes Switch to ‘Yes’

Thanks to some late-night wheeling and dealing by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democrats are four votes closer to reaching the 216 they need to pass health-care reform tomorrow. As of late last night, four Democrats who voted against the original House bill in November have committed to supporting the bill this weekend. They are Florida’s Representative Allen Boyd, Ohio’s Representative John Boccieri, Florida’s Representative Suzanne Kosmas, and New York’s very own Scott Murphy. The representatives cited several different reasons for changing their votes, including CBO’s estimate that the bill with cut the deficit by $138 billion. Curiously, none of them mentioned the late-night horse-trading. Curious!
