Today is the first day that Pedro Perez takes over for State Police superintendent Harry Corbitt, who stepped down yesterday amid an investigation into the alleged intimidation of Sherr-una Booker. So how much of a fresh start is this for the once again scandal-plagued state police force? Not much, since Perez was the guy who gave permission to Charles Day, the head of Governor Paterson's security detail, to contact Booker. "From what I'm reading, he's up to his elbows in this," said Thomas Mungeer, president of the State Troopers PBA. Hooray! [Times Union]
