Air Travel in Europe May Resume Monday

After a four-day reign, the volcanic ash that has blanketed the skies of Europe looks to be subsiding, and authorities are hoping that close to 50 percent of grounded Europe flights will operate Monday, according to the European Union. The disaster has already cost the airlines at least $1 billion so far in lost revenue, and the airlines are pressing for “an immediate reassessment of the present restrictions” after several major airlines flew successful test flights without passengers over Europe today.
