A series of powerful earthquakes struck China’s western Qinghai province Wednesday, killing at least 300 people and injuring at least 8,000, with many others still buried under debris, Chinese state media said. A 7.1 magnitude quake hit the Southern Qinghai area near Tibet early Wednesday morning and was followed by three more earthquakes.
