Whoever Obama nominates to fill the vacant Supreme Court seat, it would appear that if he or she has even a rudimentary understanding of how text messages and e-mails work, the justice will have a significant leg up on his or her peers. Earlier this week, during a case examining whether or not a California police department violated the rights of an employee when it inspected personal texts sent and received on the individual’s pager, the justices revealed a serious lack of understanding of, well, pretty much all aspects of technology.
It began with John Roberts asking for an explanation of the difference between an e-mail and a pager (seriously) … and it devolved from there. On her show tonight, Rachel Maddow turned to finger puppets to help her lampoon the proceedings.
