New York assemblywoman Linda B. Rosenthal is on a crusade to protect renters from encountering a Bedbug Surprise after their move-ins. She has introduced two bills to the state legislature: one that would require owners to disclose a five-year history of bedbug infestations to renters, and a second that would offer some compensation for those dealing with the expenses of eradicating the pest.
“As the scourge of bedbugs continues in New York, I am committed to giving my constituents the tools to protect themselves from this plague,” she said.
It’s unclear when Albany will be voting on the measure, her spokesman said. It’s not like they’ve got anything else going on up there to deal with.
