Bloomberg Reverses Decision to Cut Hundreds of NYPD Jobs (Updated)

The NYPD will no longer lose 892 officers through attrition as had been previously planned, a decision made in light of — you guessed it — Saturday’s Times Square bomb attempt. The job losses were planned as a way of saving cash in the city's budget plan; as a result, other services will be cut instead — and we'll learn what those services are when Mayor Bloomberg announces the updated plan tomorrow.

Update: The Journal is reporting that the mayor will announce 6,400 teacher job cuts tomorrow when he reveals the new budget proposal.
