Though some (Newt Gingrich, for example) spoke out strongly against Elena Kagan on the morning-show circuit this morning, the Supreme Court nominee got an unexpected endorsement from ... former First Lady Laura Bush.
“I think it’s great. I’m really glad that there will be three [women on the Supreme Court] if she is confirmed,” Bush said on Fox News Sunday. “I like to have women on the Supreme Court I just like women to be represented in all parts of American political and civic life.”
Not sure where this Laura Bush — giving both gay marriage and Elena Kagan the stamp of approval (in the same week, no less!) — came from, but we're certainly not complaining.
