An angry Governor Paterson, still fuming after a judge blocked him from furloughing state workers in an attempt to save the state’s budget, put a risky (if jesting) offer on the table. If it meant that union leaders would budge on some concessions the state was hoping for, Paterson told WOR’s John Gambling: “Listen, I’ll be happy to take the furlough.” The governor, who cut his own gross salary by 10 percent last year, offered to just not come to work one day a week.
