U.S. to Lend a Hand to South Korea Naval Defense

After the North Korea torpedo assault that sunk a South Korean warship — leading South Korea to designate their northern neighbor an "archenemy" — the U.S. is now stepping in to help make sure this kind of thing doesn't happen again. Senior American officials said they are planning a long-term program to help “plug major gaps” in South Korea’s naval defense now that it's clear the country is "vulnerable to surprise attack." [NYT]
