Israeli naval commandos boarded a 1,200-ton Irish cargo ship carrying prominent activists — including Nobel Peace laureate Mairead Maguire — attempting to bring humanitarian supplies to blockaded Gaza, stymieing the activists' efforts. According to the Times, "There were no attempts at resistance or reports of violence." Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, "Today we saw the difference between a sail of peace activists, with whom we don't agree but honor their right to express a different opinion, and a hate sail organized by terrorism-supporting violent extremists," referring to the Gaza-flotilla incident. Greta Berlin, a spokeswoman for the Free Gaza Movement, told the Times, "Israel needs to understand that we are not going to stop until they stop the blockade." [CNN, NYT]
