Some More Sort-of Good News About the Leak!

Late last night, BP robot submarines were able to attach a cap on top of the oil-spewing pipe that had been sliced by a giant pair of shears earlier in the day. Now they can funnel the oil into the cap and up into ships on the surface, instead of letting it wash onto unsuspecting pelicans. Hooray! Except, if you look at the live video, the oil still seems to be gushing into the ocean pretty much exactly as before. That’s, apparently, because they still need to seal four vents on top of the cap. Regardless, CEO Tony Hayward predicts that once everything is set, they’ll be able to capture 90 percent of the oil. And he’s never wrong.
