Women Who Spend All Day Sitting Could Die Younger

A new study published by the American Cancer Society says women who sit on their butts for more than six hours daily increase their chance of dying younger by 37 percent, even if they exercise every day. According to this study, which followed 70,000 women without any major health problems for fourteen years, sitting “suppresses hormones that affect triglycerides and cholesterol, which could trigger heart disease.” For men, the risks of sitting were lower, but still exist. Well, this is great news for people who work in an office, and work hard! And are sitting. Right now. [NYP]
