‘Toughest Ever’ Iran Sanctions Are Now in Place


The president signed a bill Thursday evening imposing what he called “the toughest sanctions against Iran ever passed by the United States Congress,” as lawmakers in the White House’s East Room looked on. “We are showing the Iranian government that its actions have consequences,” Obama said. “”There should be no doubt: The United States and the international community are determined to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.” And Obama was evidently so enthused he couldn’t help but break out into some kind of plant-straddling dance.
