In a statement on Monday, newly divorced former golf wife Elin Nordegren explained, of her and Tiger Woods's official split, "Privacy must be a principal concern." Still, faster than you can say "I'm divorced," Elin Nordegren's exclusive "I'm Stronger Than Ever" People magazine cover is hitting newsstands. In the online preview today, Nordegren tells the mag she's now focusing on receiving her college degree in psychology, and moving forward:
"I'm so embarrassed that I never suspected — not a one. For the past 3 1/2 years, when all this was going on, I was home a lot more with pregnancies, then the children and my school ... There was never any violence inside or outside our home. The speculation that I would have used a golf club to hit him is just truly ridiculous."
On the upside, she adds:
"I have been through the stages of disbelief and shock, to anger and ultimately grief over the loss of the family I so badly wanted for my children. I also feel stronger than I ever have. I have confidence in my beliefs, my decisions and myself."
There we go! Nordegren has every right to say "I'm okay now." But with a reported $100 million and a seemingly forgotten confidentiality clause under her belt, she claims this is her "first and last" interview, and adds, "money can't buy happiness or put my family back together."
