Who’s your favorite New Yorker, living or dead, real or fictional?
What’s the best meal you’ve eaten in New York?
Hard question. It’s hard to pick just one, but I love a cheeseburger at Corner Bistro.
In one sentence, what do you actually do all day in your job?
Depends on the day, really. Sometimes I respond to e-mails all day long, doing DIY business. Sometimes I do photo shoots and interviews. Sometimes I sit in the studio and make beats. Sometimes I D.J. or perform at events in New York. Sometimes I spend full days at La Guardia or JFK on my way to gigs outside of NY.
What was your first job in New York?
My first job in NYC was interning for the documentary filmmakers Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky.
What’s the last thing you saw on Broadway?
Do you give money to panhandlers?
I’d rather give them food.
What’s your drink?
I love Welch’s grape juice. I also love Jameson on the rocks.
How often do you prepare your own meals?
I love to cook. Our gas got shut off, so I cook a lot less than I’d like to. I probably make around five meals a week.
What’s your favorite medication?
I like sleeping pills, because I live a life of jet lag.
What’s hanging above your sofa?
An abstract Cray-Pas drawing I made of my girlfriend sitting on my lap.
How much is too much to spend on a haircut?
Well, I don’t like to judge others for how they spend their money, but for myself, sometimes I spend 20 dollars, sometimes I spend 80, and sometimes my friends cut my hair, but I always tip a lot. I wouldn’t spend more than 100 on just the cut part.
Depends. Sometimes 8 p.m. sometimes 8 a.m.
Which do you prefer, the old Times Square or the new Times Square?
Old Times Square. I miss the texture of the sidewalk. The blinking of the screw-in lightbulbs. And the real-world trannies.
What do you think of Donald Trump?
What do you hate most about living in New York?
How much it costs. If I lived in Ohio (where I was born) for the past fourteen years and made the same amount of money I have made while living in New York, I would have two kids and each one of them would have a pony. And I would be able to eat Olive Garden every night. Instead I have a piggy bank for insemination and I keep having to dig into it before I go to “5 combination $4.50” to get fried rice and four other dishes for $4.50.
Who is your mortal enemy?
When’s the last time you drove a car?
This morning. It was a rental car.
How has the Wall Street crash affected you?
People don’t smile as much on the street.
Times, Post, or Daily News?
Times online. Usually I read Metro if I’m in the city on the subway in the morning. Otherwise I look over someone’s shoulder on the train while they are reading the Post or the Daily News. But, every morning, the Times.
Where do you go to be alone?
I run in the Hudson River Park. I also love going to dinner alone.
What makes someone a New Yorker?
If you consider a slice of pizza a snack rather than a meal.
