Barbara Fairchild Out at Bon Appétit, Magazine Moving to New York

The top masthead changes continue to roll on over at Condé Nast. After Architectural Digest’s editor of 40 years Paige Rense Noland announced her departure earlier this year, and founding Lucky editor Kim France got the boot this month, the magazine company announces that Barbara Fairchild is out as editor of Bon Appétit. Fairchild edited the title for ten years and worked at it for 32, and no successor has been announced. In other big news for the mag, it will be moving headquarters from Los Angeles to New York City (Architectural Digest will also be making the move.) Gourmet, the food title that Condé Nast shuttered after 60 years of print in 2009, used to be headquartered here. With the BA move, the sense that it subsumed the spirit of Gourmet in a sort of magazine version of “Vanishing Twin Syndrome” is all the more palpable.
