Manhattan’s Pier 97 Goes Up in Smoke

A three-alarm fire broke out at Manhattan’s Pier 97, at West 57th Street and Twelfth Avenue, this afternoon. Though no injuries have been reported, 138 firefighters and a Marine 6 fire boat from the river worked to contain the blaze, which began in a garbage trailer that is now destroyed. Traffic on the West Side Highway was temporarily halted, but the fire is reportedly now under control. [Runnin’ Scared/VV, NY1]
