The pop star, who has until this point relied on Twitter and YouTube to demonstrate her support of the "don't ask, don't tell" repeal, is now taking the cause from the Internet to an "IRL" platform. Gaga will speak at an event Monday held in Portland, Maine, organized by the Service Members Legal Defense Network in an effort to gain the support of Maine's Republican senators, Olympia Snow and Susan Collins, whose votes would be integral in ensuring a filibuster is avoided.

"The votes to break McCain's filibuster are not there. We need Sens. Snowe and Collins on board; they're key to us breaking the filibuster. With the vote less than 48 hours away, we need everyone supporting repeal to call the Senate. We're bringing gay and straight service members to Portland to help make the case," the SLDN press release explains.

As for her role in the rally, which will take place at 4 p.m. at Deering Oats Park, Gaga explained, "I am here to be a voice for my generation, not the generation of the senators who are voting, but for the youth of this country, the generation that is affected by this law and whose children will be affected.”
