Walmart Sets Sights On Manhattan

The retail giant is planning an “aggressive push into urban markets,” according to Salon, eyeing locations in Queens and lower Manhattan. The new stores would be smaller operations (about 20,000 square feet), a “fraction of the size of its supercenters.” An official announcement regarding the expansion is expected next month at the retailer’s meeting with analysts at Walmart’s Bentonville, Arkansas headquarters. Of course, there have been similar rumblings before, so, if possible, try to keep your Walmart-related enthusiasm in check. [Salon]
