Alan Hevesi Pleads Guilty to Class E Felony

Last week the Times predicted that Alan Hevesi would plead guilty to something, although they didn’t quite know what. Today the former comptroller turned up in court handcuffed and escorted by two marshals, having admitted to a single count of receiving a reward for official misconduct. This is all part of a big case alleging that Hevesi and his friends and family sold access to the state’s $125 billion pension fund, which Hevesi controlled. The case was launched years ago by current gubernatorial candidate Andrew Cuomo, who is probably not altogether ungrateful for this morning’s reminder that he does, in fact, have testicles.
