Hundreds of Angry E-mailers Complain to PBS About the Juan Williams Firing


Do all public broadcasters look alike? PBS ombudsman Michael Getler had an in-box full of bile this week, because people were upset about what his network did to Juan Williams. Getler is a very patient man:

My interest in mentioning this is simply to remind the vast majority of those who wrote to me or called is to explain that PBS is not NPR, that Juan Williams does not work for PBS, that PBS did not fire him ...

Look, these people writing in to complain are not idiots, they are just people who see broadcasters with "public" in their name that, you know, identify themselves first and foremost as "public." It gets them worried. It gets them nervous.
