Let’s hope the city’s plan for a large-scale bike-sharing program, which could involve thousands of subscription-access bicycles available in automated kiosks below Central Park and in downtown Brooklyn, manages to avoid the pitfalls of a similar initiative in Paris, where “bicycles have ended up tossed in the Seine, dangling from lampposts, and shipped off to northern Africa for illegal sale.” [NYT]
