Obama Plans to Honor Former President Bush

George H.W. Bush — the dad, not the son — is one of the fifteen people who will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom early next year. It’s America’s highest civilian honor, and the White House selects each of the recipients. Other announced winners include NBA great Bill Russell, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, Holocaust survivor Gerda Weissman Klein, Warren Buffett, and German chancellor Angela Merkel, who uncharacteristically did not warn that Obama’s medal-making ran the risk of inflation.
