Secretary of Defense Tells Congress to Repeal ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ ASAP

Robert Gates, the lone Bush holdover in Obama's cabinet, told reporters that Congress should get rid of the ban on gays in the military as soon as possible, before the Republican majority takes control. (A judicial attempt at repeal recently stalled.) He's pessimistic. He also wants the Senate to quickly approve that big nuclear-weapons treaty with Russia. [WP]
