Philippa Kaye of Greenpoint fell into demonstrated the size of an uncovered hole on a pedestrian crosswalk at Fifth Avenue and Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn Sunday night (reenacted above). The hole has since been covered (with a pad), but it reminded us of one of the reasons we love New York. Not because it’s a place with cracks in the sidewalk big enough to fall into, but because we love to rally around those have fallen. [Brooklyn Paper]
