FBI Investigating Gawker Hack

Federal investigators are expected to meet with Gawker Media CEO Nick Denton on Tuesday to discuss Sunday’s Gawker Media hack, according to the Post. The paper has no other details on the FBI’s plans to investigate the incident, but it notes that “Gawker had in the past been critical of the hacker group, 4Chan, which is linked to Anonymous, the group that had allegedly put MasterCard and others under cyber attacks,” referring to Gawker’s recent defense of an 11-year-old girl who was being harassed by 4chan users. Also, according to the Post, “Gawker is a snarky site that dishes on the inside secrets in the media world through a variety of sites, including Gizmodo and Jezebel,” which would be news to Gawker, and certainly news to tech blog Gizmodo and women’s interest blog Jezebel.
