Cheyenne Jackson Used to Play Satan in His Mormon Street Dramas

As a gay-rights activist and committed ambassador for amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research, Cheyenne Jackson indulges in multiple pursuits that would probably displease his former church. The 30 Rock and Curb Your Enthusiasm regular is a — shall we say — recovering Mormon. But at the Manhattan Theater Club’s Winter Benefit earlier this week, he told us he’s actually had practice playing the devil to the Latter-day Saints. “I’ve actually done three mission trips, because I was very involved in my church,” he told us. “In Mexico, we did street dramas, so I was Satan.” Acting from a young age! We asked him whether it was a bummer to get stuck with the bad guy role. It wasn’t. “[It was] great,” he explained. “Because he’s the coolest character.” Ah. Rebelling from a young age too.
