Announcing your trip to Afghanistan is so 2009, apparently. On the heels of President Obama's surprise visit to the battle-torn country last month, Vice-President Biden has just landed there on a diplomatic trip to "assess progress toward the transition to Afghan-led security beginning this year, and to demonstrate the United States’ commitment to a long-term partnership," according to a White House statement. While there, Biden will meet with President Hamid Karzai, a man whose leadership skills Biden has questioned in the past. He'll also visit service members and an Afghan military training center.
