Obama’s Ambassador to China Is Probably Going to Run for President (of America)

A couple of years ago, President Obama selected former Utah governor John Huntsman as his ambassador to China, not only because Huntsman, a moderate Republican, is fluent in Mandarin, but because he wanted him the hell out of the country so he couldn’t run for president in 2012. Looks like it didn’t work. According to Politico, the White House now expects Huntsman to resign in the coming months to “explore a bid for the Republican presidential nomination.” As New York’s John Heilemann wrote earlier this month, Huntsman “just might be the most formidable standard-bearer the Republicans could field against Obama.” [Politico]
