Another Former Sean Combs Associate Maybe Committed a Crime

It took police 17 years to find the guy who shot Queens resident John Henkel in 1993—last December former Bad Boy Records rapper G. Dep admitted to the murder–or so police thought. Dep—real name Trevell Coleman—walked into the 25th Precinct and admitted that he’d fatally shot Henkel in front of an East Harlem housing project during a failed robbery attempt. Coleman’s lawyer said he seemed “relieved” by turning himself in. But then—whoops!—today Dep entered a plea of “not guilty.” His lawyer said it’s not “uncommon” for defendants to plead “not guilty,” even when they’ve confessed. G. Dep was signed to Sean Combs’ Bad Boy Records in 1998 and is best known for his debut album, Child of the Ghetto. Well, perhaps he’ll go the way of Shyne? [NY Post]
